HAND FRACTURES

A break (or fracture) in the bone of a hand can cause pain, swelling, deformity and loss of function. Many breaks in the bone can be treated without the need for surgery and will go on to heal with a good outcome. Others will heal in a poor position affecting the function of the hand if left and require surgery to restore length and alignment of the bones, and fix the position with wires, plates or screws.
